First in 2007

I can't believe I finally cooked for the first time in 2007. haha.

And I actually woke up at 4am to prepare sahur for dear kanda and me. I was all groggy after sleeping at 1am but was excited enough to start cooking. I started reading the recipe which I got from kuali.com and then realised I don't have any pepper, sesame oil and tomyam sauce. Must remember to check ingredients before cooking. I decided to use normal vege oil and black pepper sauce as replacements. It tasted nice but it was a bit too dry because the gravy was just too little. I think I overcooked the dish too. The recipe did say to stir fry well for 2-3 minutes. I remembered I did it for over 5 minutes. *oops*

Fortunately kanda managed to down everything with help of milo in between. haha. I think he's trying very hard to eat it.

I had been following Annabel Karmel's cookbooks for the last 2 days to cook Aisyah's food. Previously I did try the recipes inside but Aisyah refused most of them so I stick to the usual porridge, chikin, potatoes, carrot and some other vege combination but I think she's getting tired of those and had been refusing her meal after a few spoonfuls. I decided to try the recipes again Annabel's cookbooks. However Aisyah didn't quite like the two-sauce tomato pasta last Saturday. I later found out from my mum that she hates too much tomatoes in her meal and she don't fancy the idea of having cheese in her food. Italian dishes are definitely out for her cos cheese is generally the main ingredient inside their dishes. hehe.

So yesterday I did the 'special fried rice' but I modified a lot of things because Aisyah is still not used to eating rice. She'll chew them but very, very slowly. Sometimes she will just sit there and not chew till I tried giving her another spoonful and she'll start chewing again. Kids get bored easily so I think the next time I do this, I will have to blend them before giving her.

after 2 years...

...I still don't know how to cook! Well, I've cooked a few dishes (number of times is less than the number of fingers on my hands). It's so funny to see my one and only fried post in this blog...lol! Inspired by the food blogs I visited, I'm going to rejuvenate this blog *yeah, rite!*.

Resolution for 2007: to cook at least once a week.

My first fried post

Asian Styled Fried Rice
Prep time: 20min
Execution time: 15min

I thought I was gonna stir-fry some kailan for lunch last weekend but i came across this recipe online and decided to try it. I changed the ingredients here and there.

- Fry some minced garlic, a bit of chopped onions with a chopped chilli in a heated wok.
- Do not fry till they're brown. Then fry 2 eggs and wait till it looks cooked.
- The prawns goes in next till they're all pink.
- Then stir fry kailan till it's just wilted.
- Toss cooked rice in together with some red chilli powder, ground black pepper and some ikan bilis stock.
- Remember to put in a bit of salt too.

And voila! My own fried rice. Best served with fried chicken wings. This is my first time trying to do fried rice but the end results was surprisingly yummy'licious.
